Day 2 I venture to St. Peter's Basilica and the Vatican Museum. As luck would have it, me and about 10,000 others got blessed by the Pope. He's sitting in the middle of that tent way in the distance but I could still see him giving the sign of the cross. He was also on 4 jumbo-trons surrounding the crowd. According to the English-speaking cardinal - the blessing is passed to friends and family. If you are reading this it means the blessing extends to you as well and your children. That's some serious value!
Because of the Pope's blessing, Vatican City was packed. So the line to get into the mueseum was really long. Fortunately these two great ladies from Argentina, Luciana (left) and Daniela (right) let me cut in line and we spent the rest of the day hanging out and taking funny pictures. Daniela was on a mission. I have never seen someone run so fast through 3000 years of civilization. But thank goodness or we might not have seen all the great sites!
The Vatican Mueseum visit ends with Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel. You aren't allowed to take pictures but I sneaked this one from my cell phone. Came out blurry though... I wonder....?
Next we sprint to St. Peter's Basilica. Oh my God this place is HUGE! It is mind-boggling how intense this place is. Words and pictures cannot describe. Statues and paintings are everywhere, it's just really...intense. I made Daniela and Luciana take a picture in front of a dead pope. They weren't to happy about it I think. Last is me praying in the Basilica...for what I tell you later...
We leave the basilica. Time for some good Roman drinking water. I'm afraid to know much more about it, because I thought it tasted really good. We go to Trevi Fountain one more time to assure another trip to Rome and then we must all say goodbye in the train station. My prayers in the basilica were to be kissed on the cheeks by two Argentinian girls - maybe it was because of the Pope's blessing because it came true! Though the photo didn't come out very good. Daniela said that might mean something and I said she was right. We had to try it again! After 4 more attempts to document this photo was the best we got! Oh well, we are supposed to all make it back some day soon!
